Album of the Year...So Far

While Drake's debut album was an overall disappointment for me, at least sonically, one album that exceeded the little expectations I had is Rick Ross' Teflon Don. Besides it having some of the most inspired verses from everyone's favorite rappers, it may be the best produced hip hop album since The Blueprint 3. Every beat is perfectly paced for Ross' slow & sometimes sluggish flow. With verses from Jay-Z & Kanye West that will contend for verses of the year it's easy to imagine Ross being overshadowed. The album's best song, Live Fast & Die Young, features an inspired West spitting fierce & well thought out lines (Martin Louis The King...Junior....but Ima never let the dream turn to Krueger's) but Ross is more than ready with slick lines of his own (if she dies on my dick, shell live through every rhyme). I've never been a huge fan of his but god damn it the album is great. 50 Cent started a fight with him because he knew that Ross was holding back. This is him & his friends at their best. My only complaint is that the best verse that Drake has ever spit was left out of the album. Download Aston Martin Music with Drake's verse as soon as you can but in all seriousness you can't call yourself a fan of the genre if u don't pick up a copy.

Joke Time!

Q: What do you call the useless skin around a vagina?
A: The Woman

(the fact that this joke is hilarious does not mean that I share in its truths or lies)

Should I?

I tend make a lot of jokes whose punchline is me being Puerto Rican. These include but are not limited to the men of my island only being good for stealing cars & impregnating girls. I usually make these jokes at my expense but it' starting to bother me that it seems like I'm the one Puerto Rican who doesn't do that. I think I've made so much fun of the typical male from the island that if I did those things no one would believe me. So I'ma do my best Weezy & Jay impression & impregnate the world. Since you can't see my tongue firmly in my cheek,I feel mandated to put a "LOL" in this post.

Theme Music

I've been more impressed by one of Kanye's new song (Power),than I have been by 14 new songs from Drake. Best Album Ever (Good Ass Job)? Here's to hoping!!! *kanye shrug*

Thank Me Later Review

To the dismay of record executives nation wide, the inevitable has occurred & Drake's debut album, Thank Me Later, has leaked in its entirety. With great anticipation comes the cold reality that the first time an album is heard by fans is not on its proper release date. But the question remains, after a year of buzz, does Young Money's premier artist deliver? In short, the answer is yes & no. While the album is filled with clever quips that afforded his mixtape, So Far Gone to chart on Billboard, the album fails to reach the standard that were set by said mixtape. That mixtape, released last summer, achieved an unprecedented success for a free album. A bidding war to sign Drake was the outcome of the release. The problem with his debut studio is that he seems to be trying to recreate the feel of his previous release instead of focusing on trying to evolve his sound. There are, however, a few tracks that I'd consider classic material. The first of these is the albums first cut: Fireworks with Alicia Keys sharing singing duties with Drake on the hook. The others are the songs that feature Jeezy & Jay-Z,respectively. All other songs feel flat & lack the feelings that someone under so much scrutiny would want to express. It's a solid listen but it will by no means be considered a classic album. I believe it's entitled Thank Me Later because the best is yet to come...or for Drake's sake,I hope it will be.

The Gift That Keeps Giving!

It's not everyday that I feel like I look awesome. I mean, an outfit that gets complimented for the length of the entire day. Wednesday, the 12th, was one of those days.

Gravity's A Bitch!

Working 60 hour weeks does not afford me much time to enjoy television shows or the distractions that entertain most pedestrians. Besides conversing with friends, my entertainment comes from the little things in life.

J.Cole @ SOBs

I've been a fan of his for a little over a year. Wale had a show in NY & one of his opening acts was J.Cole. This skinny dude gets on stage to no fanfare & proceeds to steal the show. I'm looking from the 3rd row & realize that this was the same dude who chilling outside while I was waiting in line. After the show he was the only artist who stayed out & shook hands with every single person like a politician. Fast forward to tonight & he's the main event. He fucking ripped it. All his mixtape joints, which are considered classics by many rap fans were met by an adoring audience rapping along to every lyric. He also played a few songs from his forthcoming debut album & if the rest of the songs are similar to what he played @ SOBs, 2010 will be his year! Drake, who? Yea I said it!

Best Worst Movie!

I'm a huge fan of movies but I am a bigger fan of bad movies. Enter: "Birdemic!" It's all the elements of Hitchcock's films but done horribly. The acting is horrible and the writing is worse but it works. You find yourself laughing at it but it's charming. It's not just a typical bad movie, it's quite watchable because it is entertaining even though the technical aspects were not executed well. If you consider "Plan 9 From Outer Space" the "Citizen Kane" of bad movies then "Birdemic" is "The Godfather". Find it, watch it in a group & have the time of your life! Peace & Love!

Lame Simmons

My good friend @MrJLife recently reminded me of a great idea I had a few years ago. We went to school with JoJo Simmons, yeah the annoying oldest son of Rev Run. We used to pass him in the hallway & the way he grilled us 'cuz of our gear is how I think he expected people to look at him. Only problem is that he was & still is,in my humble opinion a fucking lame. I mean who has everything given to him & ice grills another person who busted their ass for the little they have? Anyway, in the student lobby one spring day we were chilling when this girl who he must have had a boner for walked in. He started screaming her name, she glanced over, saw it was him & ran toward us. Needless to say we busted out in extreme laughter aiming it squarely at his lame ass. I thought it would've been a great idea to befriend him, pretend to like him & have him pay for all our shit. We thought better of it 'cuz it would entail hanging out with him which just isn't an option. It bothers me that this no talent lame has all his whack ass freestyles put up on worldstarhiphop but the world has yet to be introduced to the incredible talent of @_Sinatra. We gotta fix that shit. I don't have anything personal against him but this shit is funny so I'm sharing it with y'all. Peace & Love!

Song Cry

Shorty killed the verse... at least she knew the words... damn my hopes are really high for Tuesday night... can't fucking wait!

We all got a story to tell...

When I was growing up I would not act on my instincts & was pretty private & not outgoing, but now I truly don't give a fuck & the Karmic Gods are rewarding me with great stories to tell. My teenage years were pretty fucking lame but boy am I making up for it now! My attitude is I don't give a fuck! If I have $10 to my name I'll bet $100 on the game, again: I don't care but I am rarely careless which makes for an interesting contrast. My yet-to-be written book will probably start on my 21st birthday as oppose to the young boring years that most autobiographies start with. Cut the fat & fast forward to the good parts! If you're lucky you may be an accessory to one of my stories. Here's to hoping! Peace & Love!

Phobia

When I was a toddler my parents would drop me off @ my grandma's house while they went to work. They would pick me up @ night & every single night, as we approached our home, there they were. Literally hundreds of frogs laying on all my toys, basketball hoop & pool table in the garage. Freaking out doesn't begin to describe my reaction. It terrified me. I wouldn't get out of the car. I would yell @ the top of my lungs thinking in my young mind that if I do it loud enough they'd leave me alone. Puerto Rico is filled with these fuckers & it's the only downside to living on the island for me. If my only options were running into highway traffic or running toward a single frog; I'm running lightning fast into traffic & hope that my "frogger" skills are up to par. And yes! I recognize the irony since frogger is a game about a frog dodging traffic. 'Til next time: Peace & Love!

Monologue

One of my dreams,as weird as it sounds, is to write jokes for a comedian, preferably on a tv show. When I stand in front of a crowd I freeze up & stutter so I know that performance is not my thing but I also know that writing is. So I decided to write a topical joke everyday that you may find on a tv show. Without further ado my joke for the 26th of February:
"So a killer whale who years ago killed two other people, struck again. He had a good defense this time though, he blamed Michael Jackson's doctor."

Does this make me look fat?

So I recently went home & my mom commented on my weight, mentioning that she thought I gained weight & looked "fat". My dad walks in & starts cracking jokes on her on how she must be blind because I've never been skinnier. Being the hispanic male that he is he naturally exaggerates. He said "el nene perdio como sesenta libras" it was so fucking funny! He started making fun of me for being skinny. It cemented the fact that no matter how little time I spent with him in my life but I am just like him! In 30 years I'll look just like him, we share the same laugh & a similar sense of humor. We are both equipped with devastating wit which I think he's proud of me for having. I come to embrace our similarities. I love the guy & I'm okay with the fact that I'll be a lot like him when I get older. Thanks for listening, Peace & Love!

Of course when they got the check they complained about it,we lowered the percentage from 20 to 18. Still complained. They're check almost $600 & I'm not taking off the tip cuz I know they'll fuck the staff over. To add insult to injury one of the couples went to the restroom to fuck! Are you kidding me? It wasn't enough that you made out with your fat girlfriend for 2 hours??? Fuck you! Oh wait, someone already did that! Boom! Roasted! If you're tryina impress your fat girlfriend try not to be a cheap fuck! Thanks for listening! Peace & Love!

For @meeleza

I am who I've wanted to be when I grew up.  I stole a little joke from him, a walk from them, and some style from them over there, but add it up & that's me.  It's weird though to see a teenager who's as cool as you always wanted to be. Enter: Melissa.  She's 16 with the personality to light up even the darkest of rooms.  I am happy to say she is my friend & will remain so, no matter the distance.  I'd like to think she kind of looks up to me, but I want to be like her when I grow up.  Peace & Love!

I squoze it myself!

I heart Most

It's true, I love to love. I love some more than others but I feel strongly about love. I don't take it lightly but I feel many do. I hear chivalry is dead but I'm going to bring it back & you'll love me for it! Peace & Love!

This could've saved late night...years ago!

Late-night talk shows are lame.  Aside from a few funny bits there is nothing worth staying up for.  Years ago though Howard Stern shot a pilot for FOX that went un-aired.  Knowing the impact he's made on television, media, & of course radio, I can't help but think that his audience was prematurely cheated out of something special.  Mind you this was shot with a minuscule budget and with little time to rehearse but is still funny... Enjoy!

You need to know your audience!

I'm on the 4 train one stop away from my destination. I'm on my way to see Kid CuDi but a rapper from the group "MPC" wanted to make his pitch first. It's a trio & they have just released an album w/ 12 new songs, there's a catch though. He announces that they do not rap about drugs, jewelry, don't boast about stuff or degrade women, now that's fine & dandy but I happen to love that about rap. In fact take that out & I'd listen to indie rock only. Maybe they should change their pitch.
