Album of the Year...So Far

While Drake's debut album was an overall disappointment for me, at least sonically, one album that exceeded the little expectations I had is Rick Ross' Teflon Don. Besides it having some of the most inspired verses from everyone's favorite rappers, it may be the best produced hip hop album since The Blueprint 3. Every beat is perfectly paced for Ross' slow & sometimes sluggish flow. With verses from Jay-Z & Kanye West that will contend for verses of the year it's easy to imagine Ross being overshadowed. The album's best song, Live Fast & Die Young, features an inspired West spitting fierce & well thought out lines (Martin Louis The King...Junior....but Ima never let the dream turn to Krueger's) but Ross is more than ready with slick lines of his own (if she dies on my dick, shell live through every rhyme). I've never been a huge fan of his but god damn it the album is great. 50 Cent started a fight with him because he knew that Ross was holding back. This is him & his friends at their best. My only complaint is that the best verse that Drake has ever spit was left out of the album. Download Aston Martin Music with Drake's verse as soon as you can but in all seriousness you can't call yourself a fan of the genre if u don't pick up a copy.
